This paper takes as its starting points the indiscernibility of transference and the status of love, as well as Freud’s dictum that transference is a »correction, which shames our [scientific] knowledge«. We will ask about the relation between knowledge and love and find that the connection of the two has to be traversed like a knot and cannot be expressed in a sentence, it can only be grasped in a movement. In doing so this paper will also look at Freud’s relationship to Fließ and pick up on Lacan’s discussion of Plato’s symposium as well as on the gay science.
