Abstract

Lacan's teaching is characterised by a large number of psychoanalytically little-used expressions, unexpected word creations and concepts developed by him. Teaching his theories presents teachers with no small problems. This is because Lacan's signifiers run the risk of turning into codes. Emphasising the mysteriousness of signifiers, as developed by Jean Laplanche, can help to overcome such impasses in teaching.
