Abstract

The text pursues the question to which extent psychoanalytic concepts can help explain psychic causes of dropping out of school. In our investigations, based on four interviews with ten dropouts, we discerned problems of a repetition compulsion, that is, of the death drive, as a reaction to an excess of pressure. Additionally we studied whether the dropouts found their way back to school.
