What shows up is different, more or less than intended. What shows up depends on desires, drives, injuries, conflicts, also that what can show up in works of art, films and in pedagogical processes. The relation of ‘showing’ produces something alongside and through the conscious showing.
In the field of education, teachers and students are equally involved in the process of showing and showing themselves. This can lead to surprises. Part of the trust that teachers place in students, which can make teaching successful, is allowing something to show itself that cannot be controlled. An example from psychoanalysis is told: a teacher, almost unable to work because, as it turned out, something showed itself to her in front of the class that she would never have associated with teaching, did not recognise: mysterious situations from childhood.
